Monument Group’s London Office Celebrates 10th Anniversary

LONDON, 29 June 2015 – Monument Group, a leading independent alternative investment fund placement agent, hosted a gathering of prominent industry leaders at the Ham Yard Hotel Roof Deck in London to celebrate ten years of Excellence in European Private Placement.  The event recognized Monument Group’s local presence in London and its European growth since opening its U.K. office in 2005.  The celebration brought together more than 100 colleagues from the General Partner, Limited Partner and advisory communities with which the Firm has worked for more than ten years.

Over the past twenty years, Monument Group has helped its clients to raise $81 billion of equity for 71 funds, $55 billion since London’s opening in 2005, representing a variety of investment strategies.  “The London office has played a critical role in some of the firm’s largest deals and most prolific relationships, including four funds for Altor, most recently closing Altor Fund IV for €2 billion in the past year,” said Alicia Cooney, co‐founder of Monument Group.  Across the U.S., Europe and Asia, Monument Group is focused currently on raising seven funds with an aggregate target of over $7 billion of equity.

“In the last ten years, we have been able to broaden Monument Group’s early European institutional investor contacts to work with more local investment funds and build relationships with a larger number of top European investors.” Said Janet Brooks, a Partner at Monument Group’s London office since 2007. “More recently, our timely expansion into Hong Kong and Tokyo has created the same essential benefit of local presence – and provides our clients with potential for access to capital around the world.”

Monument Group was launched in 1994, and now has a team of 29 professionals, including 12 Partners who average 22 years of industry experience. Headquartered in Boston, the firm doubled its investment team in the last 10 years, with the European team led by four Managing Directors Martin Anthonsen, Janet Brooks, Steve Cahill and Laurence Zage.  In January 2015, Monument Group announced that Karl Adam joined the firm as a Director in the London office, with investor coverage responsibility for German‐speaking Europe and some UK‐based investors.

“Thank you to our clients and investors, who have helped to shape our firm and encouraged us to grow into industry leaders,” Alicia Cooney said, crediting Monument Group’s growth to its buy‐side heritage and longstanding alternative investment experience and relationships.
